The real meaning of Independence Day

When Thomas Jefferson said that “people get the government they deserve,” it was more than just a clever turn of phrase. It also was not an isolated insight but a timeless truth, one expressed by many.

William Cowper
said,

“When was public virtue to be found when private was not?”

Benjamin Franklin stated,

“Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.”

Truth be known, I could probably fill a book with the words of wise ones who have spoken in kind. But, you know, I understand this principle well.

I know that people get the government they deserve;
what bothers me is that I’m going to get the government they deserve.

The Meaning of Independence Day

The intention of the remembrance is to memorialize the Declaration of Independence.  But the meaning of the word and certainly the idea of independence is routinely ignored and often purged from the gala.  A party for the sake of enjoyment snubs the solemn legacy of the founders.  Yet, those who rally their attention on patriotic fervor, make an even more profound error. 
 
The basic distinction between establishing independence, which is a prime essential to live out liberty and nationalistic allegiance, risks a fundamental disconnect in the purpose of a consensual union.  The American Revolution was fought against a monarchy that prohibited basic rights of all Englishmen.  The original thirteen colonies sought to become independent states, no longer under the boot of George III and the British Crown.  The goal for the rebellion was to gain self-government, for each colony and to establish a state sovereignty for each commonwealth.  The union that evolved and formed after the Paris Peace Treaty of 1783, into the country known as the United States was a process separate from the crucial principle established in that accord.  Note the following from this treaty in Article 1:
 
“His Brittanic Majesty acknowledges the said United States, viz., New Hampshire, Massachusetts Bay, Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia, to be free sovereign and independent states, that he treats with them as such, and for himself, his heirs, and successors, relinquishes all claims to the government, propriety, and territorial rights of the same and every part thereof.”
The use of plural for states acknowledges that the fundamental right of sovereignty resides within each former colony.  The meaning of aligning and forming a federal union of independent states is at the heart of the national celebration.  Yet, this fact of history is lost to the political culture because it serves the interests of the internal despots that scrambled to replace the British King with their own form of domestic tyranny
 
The miserable failure of the American experiment to be faithful to the principles of independence for the sake of national uniformity is self-evident. 

Only a charlatan would support the theft of autonomy for the aggrandizement of centralization. 

Only a scoundrel would seek to preserve and compel a failed marriage at the cost of inherent independence

And only a Judas traitor to the 1776 Revolution, conspire to impose their treason upon a free people.
 

Patriotism to betrayal by a federal government is worse than belief in a false cause.  The coercion and power of absolutism has replaced the promise and hope of independence. 

So what will you celebrate on this day of observance, our true heritage or an odious despotism that pretends to be American? 


Independence requires the will and courage of our forbearers.  The Concord Hymn by Ralph Waldo Emerson suggests a heritage worthy of homage.
 
By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April's breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world.
 
The foe long since in silence slept;
Alike the conqueror silent sleeps;
And Time the ruined bridge has swept
Down the dark stream which seaward creeps.
 
On this green bank, by this soft stream,
We set today a votive stone;
That memory may their deed redeem,
When, like our sires, our sons are gone.
 
Spirit that made those heroes dare
To die, and leave their children free,

Celebrate that which deserves to be venerated, shun that which deforms our indispensable values and noble aspirations.  The Fourth of July is not a government anniversary.  It is a time to remember that independence is the spirit and the soul of the nation.  The fireworks are for as John Adams rightly affirms - a Day of Deliverance.  That liberation from captivity is what we honor and so often forget If you are incapable of understanding the distinction between the goal of liberty and the reality of tyranny, you should study your heritage on this solemn day.  
 
Display the original Betsy Ross flag and beware of the reasons that cause the fifty star forgery to be disgraced.  The Meaning of Independence Day has not changed.  Now, citizens who are oblivious to the national crisis just yearn for the intoxication of a never-ending party. 

What kind of an American are you, an original patriot or a government lackey?

What Do We Celebrate on July 4th?

As our nation celebrated Independence Day, we held parades, we set off and viewed magnificent fireworks, and honored our veterans with television specials praising those who died to preserve our independence. There was one thing missing, however: no one asked what independence means to us. We were told, with these displays of affection for our independence, what to celebrate, but no qualification of this celebration was offered. If we as Americans are to celebrate our independence, then shouldn't we at least know what we are celebrating? George W. Bush asserts that independence is something we value universally, which is the reason why we are the leaders of the "free world", and as such, we "freed" Iraq. But how do we define independence? Do we support independence in a universal manner? Or, do we support it only when it suits our interests? If the latter is true, then how can independence be considered an American value? Isn't independence something every human being wants? Certainly no American would argue that a person chooses to be under the control of someone else; ie, not independent. Seen in this light, if we only respect independence when it suits us, then how are we "exceptional" with regard for our value of the concept of independence?

Blasphemy!, they say. Don't you love America? Don't you enjoy your freedoms? If you lived any place else, you would killed for writing this essay! I agree, I say. Especially in nations that we arm to the teeth, and in places where we have countless times violated this concept of independence. Any good argument deserves a good explanation based on a solid foundation of examples and logic. I don't deny that we like the privileges that freedom entails, and that we enjoy many freedoms unheard of in other countries, but, if we are to truly celebrate this holiday, then shouldn't we at least know our history with regard to respect for independence? After all, we can't just be expected to march for an idea, if we have little understanding of it meaning, can we?

Did we value the independence of Cuba and the Philippines in the late 1800s/early 1900s when we made those places into our virtual colonies, killing hundreds of thousands of Filipino independence fighters in the process?
 
Did we support the independence of the Caribbean Basin when we supported coups and intervened dozens of times in the first four decades of the twentieth century?

How much did America support the independence of Iran, when we orchestrated the overthrow of their prime minister, <we> installed the Shah, and supported that dictator during his slaughter and torture of thousands of dissidents, who only sought to restore freedoms taken away by that dictator?   <deja-vu Saddam>

How did we deem the independence of Guatemala in 1954, when we helped oust the democratically elected president, Jacobo Arbenz, and <we> installed a dictator, who, along with his successors over the next four decades, killed and tortured hundreds of thousands?

Did we respect the independence of Chile when we supported the overthrow of the democratically elected president, Salvador Allende, on Sept. 11, 1973, and then <we> supported the dictator, who killed and tortured thousands of Chileans?

Did we honor the independence of the Congo in 1961, when we supported the assassination of the first ever-elected prime minister of that country, and then <we> supported the Mobutu dictatorship over the next three and a half decades, while the bodies of his opponents seeking independence piled up in mass graves?

Did we respect the independence of the majority of El Salvador's poor population in the 1980s, whose only crime was to seek the very things we Americans demand, such as health care, food, potable water, and to NOT be repressed by death squads supporting the right wing government? If so, then how is it that we gave six billion dollars in military hardware and training to the death squads <ala, Osama, ala, ISRAEL year after year>, who killed and tortured tens of thousands of unarmed Salvadorans?

Did we support the independence of Cuba and Nicaragua after people's revolts overthrew the long-time dictatorships that curtailed freedoms of expression and assembly we as Americans demand?  < that is happening right now in AmeriKa, YOU false patriots who supported all these WAR CRIMES shall suffer the same happen to you right here!>

Or, did we support covert, anti-independence movements, which used terror tactics and sabotage against civilians, for the purposes of overthrowing those popular governments?

Unfortunately, the thwarting of independence goes on and on and on. If this list, which is nowhere near complete, demonstrates a slight level of disdain for independence of the "Other", then shouldn't this factor into our perspective for celebrating the concept of an Independence Day?

<If> SINCE - the United States has indeed violated the independence of so many countries, then would it at least be a bit more accurate to celebrate this day in its true context?......

That is, we like OUR independence, but any one in the 3rd World seeking independence will have to go through US first.

If this is generally true, as I see the historical record, then how can we honestly say that we value independence universally? After all, this is what George Bush states was the positive side of our war against Iraq. The people of Iraq are free from an evil tyrant <we installed>, he says, but he stops there, failing to mention [PK insert] the people of Iraq have a new tyrant, their conqueror, and are not free indeed, but living under another <foreign> king George as were and are the American people.

THE DIFFERENCE IS: the people of Iraq know this fact, but the people of America are in a state of stupor and religious cultish delusion, hating and blaming everyone else for our woes whilst licking the boots of those who are indebting and enslaving Americans more every day unto GENERATIONS of servitude and SLAVERY under BLOOD THIRSTY TYRANNY.

[ you will pay with the blood of your children and your wives who will curse you from their graves, and you weak men - yourselves will grovel in the concentration camps, frothing at the mouth unto your stinking deaths ].

Reflections on the meaning of Independence Day

Independence Day means nothing significant to me. It is the one time of year that we allow children to play with pyrotechnic devices. We turn them loose with matches and low grade explosives. In Darwinian fashion some return with fewer fingers or with scars that will warn future prospective mates that the barer may not be the ideal parent due to a lack of good judgment.

In addition to the rash of maimed children, there will be barbecues, keg parties and fireworks displays. There will be sales at car dealerships, hardware stores and the mall.

I will cringe at every pop and bang until I have totally assumed a frame of mind that will not associate these sounds with the sounds of mortar and rifle fire. I have found that setting off fireworks with the kids is the best way to get into that peaceful state. Even then I will wake from sleep grasping for a pistol every time there is a late night explosion.

All of this is fairly divorced from the intention of the holiday itself. The mythology behind the United States becomes more and more diluted each time it crosses another line. Each dirty little secret that is revealed crushes an ideal that we once held as the gold standard. When we find out that we torture we can no longer claim to be champions of human rights. When it comes to light that we have an extensive domestic spying program we can no longer look down our collective noses at countries that violate the privacy of their citizens. These were things that the Soviets did. They were things that happened in backwards dictatorships, not the United States.

Even the education on the subject that one receives in school is far removed from the reality. Few school children actually read the Declaration of Independence. From the point of view of the State this is a good thing, as children who read it might feel impelled by patriotism to engage in acts of sedition and revolution. Certainly, there are parts that apply to our situation today where the United States is the oppressive imperial power.

Describing the reasons that they decided to take up arms against their own country the Founding Fathers wrote:
 

“He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation, and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & Perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.”

Black Water and Armour Group rely heavily on foreign mercenaries to do their work. Iraq is rotten with Afrikaner mercs running around with AKs in Datsun pickups.

They also wrote:
 

“He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil Power.”

There is a case to be made here as well. An article in the January 30, 2008 edition of the Boston Globe reports that the President declared he is not bound by Congress's laws when they apply to the military. He claims that since he is Commander-in-Chief, laws passed by Congress that limit his authority with regard to foreign affairs and the military are unconstitutional.

The United States that those early malcontents fought and died for is long gone. The new state that overthrew an imperialist oppressor is now seen by the rest of the world as an aggressive enemy of peace. Their radical ideas about personal freedom have been eviscerated by the Patriot Act.

Abbie Hoffman once wrote that “Amerika is just another Latin dictatorship.” Although we protest, hold signs, and occupy the offices of high officials, we cannot escape that fact. When we show pictures of the dead and wounded to our congressional representatives, believing in our heart of hearts that a picture is worth a thousand words, they will nod and look concerned in a manner practiced in front of a mirror. They will echo our lamentations in the most sincere voice that they can muster, but they will do nothing. They know that while a picture is worth a thousand words, they need money to be reelected. War profiteers can provide the money that sponsors campaign commercials, paid interns, and plane tickets. All that activists can offer is a few lousy votes that will be far outweighed by the numbers they will reach with that ad spot during American Idol.

In the end, we only need to compare ourselves to those enemies of the Crown who founded our country to see why we are failing. They were faced with a problem and said “we will do something about it.” We have been faced with a problem and we say, “lets hold signs so people in power might read them and do something about it.” That is the difference between free people and subjects.

Independence Day means nothing to me, because we are only superficially linked to those great criminals who fought to be free. I am certain that if they were alive today, they would disown us on sight.    http://ivaw.org/faq

 


Real Independence Day: The Meaning of the Second Amendment

There is no national holiday on April 19 (or April 18), though the Boston Marathon is run around this time. When I was in college in the East, this meant not only mid-spring but mid-term, and when exams were finished, the anniversary of Paul Revere's ride seemed a perfect excuse for a party. Though I've celebrated this date habitually over the years, the party spirit has faded a bit with age, and I've begun to reflect a little more on those events and people of 1775. What went on in the minds of these small-town farmers that made them stand up and challenge the army of "their" government — coincidentally, the most powerful one on earth at that time? Were they pushed to it accidentally, or had they already drawn the line beyond which they would stand and fight?

It's a question that may relate to today more than we realize. Our government is, at least for now, undoubtedly the most powerful in the world. It holds power that those Massachusetts farmers couldn't have imagined. It intrudes in our lives to a degree that would have astonished and appalled them. Are we drawing a mental line of how far we'll let it go? Are we waiting until somebody unintentionally pushes us too far? Are we past standing up for our rights all together? It's hard to tell.

There are several movements, both within and without the government, aimed at disarming the American population. The argument seems to be that we are so civilized that we have no good use for such things as firearms. In 1775, the goal of the British troops marching on Concord was similar — to disarm the colonists. They weren't after individual personal weapons; they were after cannons and large stores of gunpowder rumored to be at Concord. (With the limited technology of the day, cannons were the largest technological advantage the British had over the colonists.)

The government today has numerous large technological advantages over the civilian population. There remain a substantial number of heavily regulated, registered weapons in private hands, but the closest thing to technological parity is the common semiautomatic weapon available to the general public. It is this class, mislabeled "assault weapons," that currently comes under the most vigorous attack from gun-control advocates both inside and outside government. The usual attack centers around the "fact" that they have "no sporting uses."

Ignoring the inaccuracy of this "fact," the truth is that the Second Amendment makes no reference to "sporting uses." In fact, it seems most unlikely that "sporting uses" were a consideration for those who framed the Bill of Rights. Unfortunately, even the National Rifle Association skirts timidly around the real issue, as if it were too much for Americans to deal with. The point of the Second Amendment is to give American citizens the capability to assemble rapidly as an armed militia for their own collective defense. This has generally been thought of as defense against an invading foreign enemy, but recent events in Los Angeles and Waco clearly point out that other situations might also create such a need. To the Framers of the Bill of Rights, the most recent "foreign enemy" was the perceived tyranny of their own government — in England, but, nonetheless, at that time (1775), their own. A great concern of the writers of the Bill of Rights was that the own government they were then forming might eventually become tyrannical, and that the citizens needed protection from that possibility — hence the entire Bill of Rights, including the Second Amendment.

There are past examples of armed citizen resistance to the perceived tyranny of the U.S. government: the Whiskey Rebellion, Shays' Rebellion, and most notably the War Between the States. The fact that none of these was successful does nothing to alter the principle of armed resistance as a last resort. The fact that a large number of citizens exercise their Second Amendment rights unquestionably admits the possibility of future armed resistance and can properly be a sobering thought for those in government. The amount of support for gun control within the government (those sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution, including the Bill of Rights, including the Second Amendment) perhaps indicates that this is indeed the case. As the existence of our nuclear missiles served as a brake to Soviet ambitions for 45 years, so a well-armed populace must serve as a brake on those in government who might abuse their authority.

The removal of firearms from civilian hands removes this restraint from government. However small the actual possibility of revolt, whatever the theories that we are "too civilized" to need or want firearms, the fact remains that the ultimate guarantor of political power, here as anywhere else in the world, is the possession of (and willingness and ability to use if necessary) firearms. Without that, not only is resistance to unjust laws or abuse of power impossible, but enforcement of just laws is impossible.

Does this mean that we need to plan for armed resistance? Hardly. The odds are far less, even than in 1860. Only massive public support for resistance would give it a chance of success, and such support could well prevent the need for resistance through political means. Only a blatant usurpation of power in excess of authority might try to override such resistance, and the coup attempt in Russia illustrates that massive resistance can succeed even with little or no violence.

Maybe we do need to give more thought to where we draw the line. How much power do we really grant to the federal government? If the power is accumulated gradually enough, it may not be blatant enough to inspire massive resistance. In that case, a smaller group might be suddenly and accidentally pushed beyond its limit and provide the tragedy of a Lexington — like spark, with violent, armed resistance the final result. In either case, without the Second Amendment, we lose much of our option to resist. Even the most massive nonviolent resistance becomes fatally or near-fatally weak without the threat of armed resistance to back it. Two old quotes come to mind: "The price of liberty is eternal vigilance" and "Those who give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." It's time we paid a little more attention to where we stand before it's too late.

Here on the Eastern Shore, guns are a way of life. People like to hunt, people like to shoot, and people like to collect guns out of historical or aesthetic interest. Most small towns could easily arm an infantry company out of private collections, and small cities could probably arm a regiment — possibly including automatic or other heavy weapons. There are no militia groups, but organization could occur around fire companies, fraternal organizations, gun clubs, and even veterans' organizations if the provocation were severe enough.

I doubt I will ever have to stand and literally fight for my rights. I hope I don't. If it's going to happen, I hope it happens after my lifetime, after my children's lifetimes, and, if and when they arrive, after my grandchildren's lifetimes. I suspect that's about as many generations ahead as we're capable of worrying about.

At the same time, I wonder if that isn't what those Massachusetts farmers felt in 1775. No doubt, resistance to the British Army looked as hopeless to them as resistance to the federal government does to me. But if it does come to lining up on the village green, I hope I'll have the courage to stand with my neighbors — and they the courage to stand with me — to make sure America stays a free country of free people.

We celebrate that freedom on the Fourth of July, but those words of July Fourth were created by the actions of those men in April 1775. In my mind, that's the real holiday, in the original sense of the word.

Put the "Independence" Back in Independence Day--the Forgotten Meaning of America

Jefferson and Washington fought a war for the principle of independence, meaning the moral right of an individual to live his own life as he sees fit.

America's cities and towns will soon fill with parades, fireworks, and barbecues. They will be celebrating the Fourth of July, the 227th birthday of America. But one hopes that--on this second post-September 11 Independence Day--the speeches will contain fewer bromides and more attention to exactly what is being celebrated. The Fourth of July is Independence Day, but America's leaders and intellectuals have been trying to move us further and further away from the meaning of Independence Day, away from the philosophy that created this country.

What we hear from politicians, intellectuals, and the media is that independence is passé, that we've reached a new age of "interdependence." We hear demands for mandatory "volunteering" to serve others, for sacrifice to the nation. We hear demands from trust-busters that successful companies be punished for being "greedy" and not serving society. But this is not the message of America. It is the direct opposite of why America became a beacon of hope for the truly oppressed throughout the world. They have come here to escape poverty and dictatorship; they have come here to live their own lives, where they aren't owned by the state, the community, or the tribe.

"Independence Day" is a critically important title. It signifies the fundamental meaning of this nation, not just of the holiday. The American Revolution remains unique in human history: a revolution--and a nation--founded on a moral principle, the principle of individual rights. Jefferson at Philadelphia, and Washington at Valley Forge, pledged their "lives, fortunes, and sacred honor." For what? Not for mere separation from England, not--like most rebels--for the "freedom" to set up their own tyranny. In fact, Britain's tyranny over the colonists was mild compared to what most current governments do to their citizens.

Jefferson and Washington fought a war for the principle of independence, meaning the moral right of an individual to live his own life as he sees fit. Independence was proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence as the rights to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness." What are these rights? The right to life means that every individual has a right to his own independent life, that one's life belongs to oneself, not to others to use as they see fit.

The right to liberty means the right to freedom of action, to act on one's own judgment, the right not to have a gun pointed at one's head and be forced to do what someone else commands. And the right to the pursuit of happiness means that an individual may properly pursue his own happiness, e.g., his own career, friends, hobbies, and not exist as a mere tool to serve the goals of others. The Founding Fathers did not proclaim a right to the attainment of happiness, knowing full well that such a policy would carry with it the obligation of others to make one happy and result in the enslavement of all to all. The Declaration of Independence was a declaration against servitude, not just servitude to the Crown but servitude to anyone. (That some signers still owned slaves does not negate the fact that they established the philosophy that doomed slavery.)

Political independence is not a primary. It rests on a more fundamental type of independence: the independence of the human mind. It is the ability of a human being to think for himself and guide his own life that makes political independence possible and necessary. The government as envisaged by the Founding Fathers existed to protect the freedom to think and to act on one's thinking. If human beings were unable to reason, to think for themselves, there would be no autonomy or independence for a government to protect. It is this independence that defines the American Revolution and the American spirit.

To the Founding Fathers, there was no authority higher than the individual mind, not King George, not God, not society. Reason, wrote Ethan Allen, is "the only oracle of man," and Thomas Jefferson advised us to "fix reason firmly in her seat and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God." That is the meaning of independence: trust in your own judgment, in reason; do not sacrifice your mind to the state, the church, the race, the nation, or your neighbors.

Independence is the foundation of America. Independence is what should be celebrated on Independence Day. That is the legacy our Founding Fathers left us. It is a legacy we should keep, not because it is a legacy, but because it is right and just.

AND SO - ARE YOU FREE ? Are you a Free-Man or Woman? Do you feel safer today than you did 20-years ago?

The con-trollers of America tell us via the lying lips of their US King George that people around the world hate us because they are jealous of our freedoms and those (Mulsims, A-rabs) want to invade and kill all Americans. For this reason, we must support a (neo-con) never ending global war of terrorism (pre-emptive wars) against anyone who does not agree with our Re-legious Zealot occult point of view or who does not allow us to financially rape their country and enslave their people, so we deem them "terrorists" and terrorist nations in order to; bomb, invade, enslave and murder innocent civilians <under false pretences of fighting to give them freedom> to steal their wealth, their natural resources <as was done to the native peoples here> and not for the benefit of Americans but for the benefit of those who CON-trol the UNITED STATES with an iron fist with guns in our faces, (quietly) dragging Americans out of our homes in the middle of the night and incarcerating and torturing Americans as "enemy combatants" in secret prisons IN THE UNITED STATES and all over the world without due process, FOREVER, destroying families, our FREEDOM and our way of life.

Law School Plans to Prosecute Bush

The Massachusetts School of Law at Andover will convene a conference in September to lay plans to prosecute President Bush and other high administration officials for war crimes. "This is not intended to be a mere discussion of violations of law that have occurred," says MSL's dean Lawrence Velvel in a statement announcing the conference. "It is, rather, intended to be a planning  conference at which plans will be laid and necessary organizational structures set up, to pursue the guilty as long as necessary and, if need be, to the ends of the Earth."

The ends of the earth, in this case, may be Crawford, Texas, where President Bush is likely to be found after his term is up at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. In addition to President Bush, others Velvel wants to put on trial include Vice President Richard Cheney, former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and former Justice Department lawyer John Yoo. He leaves the final list of war-crimes defendants to be determined at the Sept. 13 and 14 conference, but suggests it could also include federal judges and members of Congress. Other items on the conference agenda: what crimes were committed, where might they be prosecuted, and who will coordinate all this.

Apart from the national and international political implications of all this, there could be local hurdles to overcome. Three citizens of Andover -- the town where MSL is situated -- were among those hanged for witchcraft as part of the 17th century Salem witch trials. These days, however, the town is a chichi Boston bedroom community known as home to equally chichi Phillips Academy. No doubt, any proposal to erect a gallows on the MSL campus might not make it past the local planning board.

The move to impeach President George W. Bush has been around for years. A large number of Americans actually thought that by voting in Democrats and "taking back" Congress in 2006, not only would America withdraw from this heinous, unconstitutional war in Iraq (and Afghanistan), they could also expect the incompetent, Nancy Pelosi, to spear head the impeachment of Bush. Of course, these duped Americans were played, again. There was never any doubt in my mind that there would be no impeachment.

Many years ago, the foolish Republicans went after Marxist Bill Clinton for the wrong reason. Clinton sold our most sensitive defense secrets to the communist Chinese. Instead of Congress going after him for provable treason, gutless Republicans in the House went after Clinton over a sex charge. Of course, if one has read David Schippers book, Sellout: The Inside Story of President Clinton's Impeachment, they will fully understand the whole episode was rigged and there was never any serious intention of removing Clinton from office. The same applies to Bush. The Democrats want him to stay in office for political currency - in other words, American soldiers are expendable to get closet communist, Barack Hussein Obama, into the White House. Millions of Democrats have come to realize they were had, but continue to support the ring leaders of such treachery. A form of insanity.

I am not a fan of Michael Moore. I've never seen any of his movies, but I am going to quote from his site because this is the heart of the matter. The gut wrenching question tens of millions have asked. The heart breaking questions from mothers who ask, "Did my son die for nothing?":

4. The U.S. Constitution does not authorize the American people to be robbed using borrowed money to fund wars based on lies and what is known as nation building. Our military is for our defense, period. We have the right to defend if attacked.

6. There were no weapons of mass destruction.

7. Iraq was NOT any kind of threat to these united States of America.

Bush and his co conspirators planned the invasion of Iraq long before September 11, 2001, because it is the agenda being pursued for world government and every country who doesn't fall lock step into line will be invaded and occupied until the desired results are achieved. That agenda includes making sure control of the world's oil supply is in the hands of the power brokers who own the U.S. Congress.

Paid mouth pieces and party hacks on the stupid tube shout that any American questioning Bush's motives during a time of war and and the invasions of two non threatening countries are somehow aiding and abetting the enemy. "Soft on terrorism." Classic propaganda. It is our duty to question the motives and policies of those allegedly elected to public office on any issue - especially war.

I have not participated in the efforts by dozens of groups and organizations out to impeach Bush because as I said above, I knew it would never happen. Should Americans remain silent when a president commits 'high crimes and misdemeanors'? Absolutely not. However, reality is reality and that's the bitter pill Americans have been tasting for years as the Democrats continue to go right along with Bush's insanity. Both parties continue to approve hundreds of billions of dollars that don't exist to fund his lunacy. Every single penny thrown away in the Middle East has to be borrowed because these crooks, cowards and criminals called Congress, have spent this country into a $9.5 TRILLION dollar debt. It makes no difference to them. They keep spending on these endless wars because the people allow it.

There are plans underway to prosecute George W. Bush for war crimes:

Law School Plans to Prosecute Bush

"The Massachusetts School of Law at Andover will convene a conference in September to lay plans to prosecute President Bush and other high administration officials for war crimes. "This is not intended to be a mere discussion of violations of law that have occurred," says MSL's dean Lawrence Velvel in a statement announcing the conference. "It is, rather, intended to be a planning conference at which plans will be laid and necessary organizational structures set up, to pursue the guilty as long as necessary and, if need be, to the ends of the Earth."

"The ends of the earth, in this case, may be Crawford, Texas, where President Bush is likely to be found after his term is up at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The Wild West locale could be the perfect place for such a trial, given the punishment Velvel proposes for anyone who is convicted. Such a process as proposed above will not be an easy one to sell. Can anything be done to hold Bush and his coconspirators accountable? I believe the answer is found in a new book titled, The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder, by Vincent Bugliosi. For those unfamiliar with that name, Bugliosi successfully prosecuted Charles Manson for the Tate/LaBianca murders; his bio is here. This man is no light weight in legal circles. And while I believe he's a Democrat and unnecessarily devotes time at the end of the book to vent in a partisan fashion, Bugliosi presents his case as a skilled prosecutor and goes after both parties for their failure to stop the madness of the infantile and quite mad, George W. Bush.

Bugliosi also whacks the corporate media for their role in never putting forth the hard questions and selling these grotesque wars. He has nothing good to say about the American people either when talking about the massive failures of Bush and his 'war on terrorism,' page 173: "But the majority of Americans, while most of this was happening, did not [question]. Why not? In large part it's because most people love to rest their minds, being much more fond of talking than thinking..."

The inside front and back covers of this book is a mosaic of soldiers from all 50 states killed in Iraq. The inside flap succinctly and accurately tells the reader what this book does: "...Bugliosi presents a tight, meticulously researched legal case that puts George. W. Bush on trial in an American court room for the murder of nearly 4,000 American soliders fighting the war in Iraq. Bugliosi sets forth the legal architecture and incontrovertible evidence that President Bush took this nation to war in Iraq under false pretenses -- a war that has not only caused the deaths of American soldiers, but also over 100,000 innocent Iraqi men, women and children...."

I read this book in a few days because it was so compelling, I couldn't put it down. Not only does Bugliosi present an air tight case against Bush, there can be no question that Dick Cheney and Condelezza Rice should also be tried as coconspirators. There is nothing in this book about September 11, 2001 other than mention of the 9/11 Omission Commission. It focuses squarely on Bush and his lies, backed up by Cheney and Rice. This is the right way to approach this legal issue.

Bush cannot be indicted and prosecuted until the day after he leaves office. Can Bush be indicted and in what jurisdiction? Bugliosi explains this in detail on page 308: "..any state attorney general in the fifty states could bring a murder charge against Bush for any soldiers in that state who lost their lives fighting Bush's war.

"Bush could be expected to make one more legal challenge to the jurisdiction of any state court to prosecute him for murder, including citing the language of Article III, §2, cl. 3 of the U. S. Constitution (and 18 U.S.C. §3238)..." He goes on to explain how Bush's conspiracy to commit murder is proper in the jurisdiction he lays out in this book using U.S. Supreme Court cases.

For those who want to blow this off as the work of a 'Bush hater' and other popular propaganda, you are in denial about the intentions of Bush and his coconspirators. These are evil people who must be held accountable. Patrick Henry's 'Give me liberty' speech was magnificent in so many ways. He and others were willing to put it all on the line for this country. For our country. For honor, integrity and birthing a nation of free individuals who were willing to fight to give all of us freedom - not to fight wars based on lies.

Bush and his coconspirators must be indicted and prosecuted. For those who died on September 11, 2001. For our soldiers who have died for their lies. For their families who will grieve every day until they take their last breath. We the people are bleeding for those families. We do care. We are not unpatriotic, but we will not condone what Bush and his coconspirators have done to this nation.

Bush and his coconspirators must be indicted and prosecuted. For the hopes of dreams of our young people, gone and blowing into the dust bin of a distorted history.

For the children of our soldiers who will never know their mom or dad past the last time they saw them as they were being shipped to hell to fight an unnecessary war. America's plate is heaped with corruption and danger. But, we must not, we cannot ignore the crimes of Bush, Cheney and Rice, because it's the easiest path or because "they're out of office now." No. This must be pursued as a screaming warning to future presidents that they cannot and will not be allowed to destroy this country by sending our soldiers into useless wars based on lies, causing so much grief and agony. Vincent Bugliosi has given the American people and the legal system the blueprint for prosecution. The question remains is there one single Attorney General in the 50 states of the Union who has the guts and courage to take on a criminal like George W. Bush?

It is definitely fascism when it happens to you

WMR -- In Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff's world of an "Israelized" America, the terms SPOT (Screening Passengers by Observation Technique) and BDO (Behavior Detection Officer) are the new acronyms of Stasi-like control of the American citizenry by a government that treats anyone as a suspicious person in the same manner that Israel mistreats its own Arab citizens and Palestinians.

Sunday, this editor and his colleague faced the Chertoffian menace at Washington's Reagan National Airport while heading to the gate to board a flight to Houston.

It is now clear from a review of the events that unfolded that I was pre-selected for an intensive search and battery of questions even before arriving in line for the security screening. A Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screener was overheard saying, "the guy with the beard." Since I was the only person in line who also had a beard, it was evident that a red flag had earlier been raised.

What followed, was worse than anything I had previously encountered while leaving Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport, itself a revolting display of ingratitude to citizens of the country that bankrolls Israel, or the Israeli-run screening process at Amsterdam's Schipol Airport.

First, I was instructed to enter a glass isolation chamber and point out my belongings that were exiting the X-ray machine. Anyone with claustrophobia would really enjoy being placed in such a chamber and have to speak to the screener through small holes in the glass.

I was then led to an area where all my carry-on bags were emptied. I was also forced to empty my pockets of everything. A bevy of screeners then proceeded to go through my wallet examining everything: cash, credit cards, VA medical benefits card, National Press Club card, voter's registration card, and driver's license. Then came an examination of my press credentials and related IDs: Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) card, Society of Professional Journalists card, National Archives research card, Library of Congress card, three press credentials, and membership card in Association for Intelligence Officers (AFIO).

In a blatant violation of the First and Fourth Amendments, my reporter's notebooks, containing names of contacts in Houston and around the world were paged through by the screeners. Another screener asked if I minded being probed in "certain private areas." He then asked if I'd like the examination to be conducted in private. I replied, "No, let everyone see this." He then proceeded to examine my groin area.

Then came the battery of questions.

1. Are you feeling okay?

2. Where are you going today?

3. How long will you be there?

4. Why are you going there?

5. What story are you covering/

6. Who do you write for?

7. When did you move to Washington?

8. Where did you live before that?

9. What did you do for a living before?

10. Who was the most famous person you ever met?

11. What was the most famous event you ever covered?

12. What type of things do you write about?

13. What type of politics do you cover?

14. What is your place of birth?

My colleague, who had successfully passed through screening and was waiting for me, was then asked to step into the holding area so she "could see and hear what was going on." It was a ruse. She was also subjected to a full carry-on bag examination, frisking, and a series of personal questions:

1, Are you with him?

2. Where are you going?

3. What is the purpose of your visit?

4. What story are you investigating?

5. How long were you in the US Air Force?

6. Where were you stationed overseas?

7. Why were you not overseas in the military?

8. When are you returning?

9. Who do you work for?

10. What is an independent journalist?

11. How long have you been working with him?

12. Do you find your job fulfilling?

13. What is your place of birth?

After this Gestapo-like of questioning, I was told that a TSA screener was writing details in a notebook for the "paperwork." My colleague was told TSA was going to file an "incident report."

The nature of WMR's coverage is that our sources are our lifeblood and anything done to compromise them is a direct attack on the freedom of the press and our rights as journalists. The notion of press freedom does not exist in Chertoff's worldview of police state tactics and total surveillance but his worldview is a distinctly un-American one, something that is more properly relegated to the history books of his ancestral Czarist Russia.

When our investigations take us beyond the Washington Beltway, it is not within Chertoff's purview to find out details about the purpose of the trip, even though it may shed an unwelcome light on his network of Mossad operatives and Russian-Israeli gangsters and scam artists who are now running rampant in these United States of America.

The antics at Washington Reagan National are not unique. Foreign journalists have been subjected to similar invasive screening either at US embassies when applying for the required journalist visas to visit the United States or at immigration screening at US entry points.

The corporate media will not report on these cases as they are part of the problem in allowing Chertoff and his American Gestapo to continue to turn the United States into one big West Bank-style checkpoint.

One other note. This editor visited the USSR and draconian nations such as Paul Kagame's Rwanda, Yoweri Museveni's Uganda, Hun Sen's Cambodia, the former military junta's Thailand, surveillance society Singapore, and Muslim monarchy Brunei Darussalam. Nothing compares to what occurred at Washington National Airport. It is yet another sign of the fact that the United States has entered a phase of fascist control. There's only one question that remains: Is the slide reversible?

WASHINGTON REGARDING PERSONAL GUN RIGHTS UNDER THE
SECOND AMENDMENT, IT BREACHED THEIR CONTRACT WITH THE
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND MONTANA AND THEIR STAR WOULD
BE REMOVED FROM OLD GLORY.

OKLAHOMA ORDERED THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO CEASE
AND DESIST FROM MANDATES AND FEDERAL TYRANNY.

ARIZONA REFUSES TO COMPLY WITH 'REAL ID' DEMANDS.
NOW WYOMING SHERIFFS REGAIN JURISDICTION OVER THE
FEDS INCLUDING THE IRS AND BATF IN A COURT DECISION.

All these are exercises of the Bill of Rights
including the Tenth Amendment.

Let the other states follow suit and impoverish the U.S. Federal
government. In this country, the PEOPLE, not the bureaucracy,
ARE TO BE RICH. Turn the world upside down, God of our Fathers!

In addition THIRTY STATES had Congressmen who signed on
to the Resolution to make the Second Week of June American
Christian Heritage Week. Speeches by Representatives like David
Davis (R) of Tennessee and Adderholt (R) of Alabama and others
were chilling to the communists and fellow-travelers as they
pointed out the American Christian heritage and foundations in
five-minute speeches last week which were broadcast over CNN
and other press who carry Congressional proceedings.

Wyoming sheriffs put Feds in their place.
Here's one the mainstream media isn't going to tell you: County
sheriffs in Wyoming are demanding that federal agents actually
abide by the Constitution, or face arrest.

Even better, a U.S. District Court agreed according to the Keene
Free Press: The court decision was the result of a suit against
both the BATF and the IRS by Mattis and other members of the
Wyoming Sheriff's Association. The suit in the Wyoming federal
court district sought restoration of the protections of the US
Constitution and the Wyoming Constitution.

Guess what? The District Court ruled in favor of the sheriffs.
In fact, they stated, "Wyoming is a sovereign state and the duly
elected sheriff of a county is the highest law enforcement official
within a county and has law enforcement powers exceeding that
of any other state or federal official."

Go back and re-read this quote. The court confirms and asserts
that "the duly elected sheriff of a county is the highest law
enforcement official within a county and has law enforcement
powers EXCEEDING that of any other state OR federal official."

And you thought the 10th Amendment was dead and buried �
not in Wyoming, not yet.

Bighorn County Sheriff Dave Mattis comments:
"If a sheriff doesn't want the Feds in his county he has the
constitutional right and power to keep them out, or ask them to
leave, or retain them in custody."

"I am reacting in response to the actions of federal employees
who have attempted to deprive citizens of my county of their
privacy, their liberty, and their property without regard to
constitutional safeguards. I hope that more sheriffs all across
America will join us in protecting their citizens from the illegal
activities of the IRS, EPA, BATF, FBI, or any other federal agency
that is operating outside the confines of constitutional law.
Employees of the IRS and the EPA are no longer welcome in
Bighorn County unless they intend to operate in conformance to
constitutional law."

The implications are huge:
But it gets even better. Since the judge stated that the sheriff
"has law enforcement powers EXCEEDING that of any other state
OR federal official," the Wyoming sheriffs are flexing their
muscles.

They are demanding access to all BATF files.
Why? So they can verify that BATF is not violating provisions
of Wyoming law which prohibits: the registration of firearms or
the keeping of a registry of firearm owners.

The sheriffs are also demanding that all federal agencies (IRS)
immediately cease the seizure of private property and the
impounding of private bank accounts without regard to due
process in Wyoming state courts.

This case is not just some amusing mountain melodrama. This is
a BIG deal. This case is yet further evidence that the 10th
Amendment is not yet totally dead, or in a complete decay in the
United States.

It is also significant in that it can be interpreted to mean that
"political subdivisions of a State are included within the meaning
of the amendment, or that the powers exercised by a sheriff are
an extension of those common law powers which the 10th
Amendment explicitly reserves to the People, if they are not
granted to the federal government or specifically prohibited to
